Dr. Gijs Walraven, Director of the Aga Khan Health Services (AKHS) of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) is visiting Washington, DC March 28-29, 2011 and will present on AKDN’s regional approach to health systems strengthening in Central and South Asia at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS).
He will speak about AKDN’s efforts to strengthen health systems in order to enhance the availability of essential comprehensive healthcare. AKHS is one of the most comprehensive private-not-for-profit health care systems in the developing world, reaching almost 2 million people in Central and South Asia. Dr. Gijs Walraven is the Director of Community Health, Delegation of the Aga Khan Development Network in Aiglemont, France and Visiting Professor of Community Health Sciences, Aga Khan University, Karachi, Pakistan. He is the author of ‘Health and Poverty: Global Health Problems and Solutions’ (Earthscan, 2010).
